The Parts of You That Never Left

Testing the light

This week, something beautiful happened. After a long time, I reconnected with one of my first passions: photography.

Not as a hobby.

Not as nostalgia.

But professionally — I had the opportunity to do a product photoshoot for one of my clients.

Just me. My camera. My eye. My instinct. And suddenly… I felt it.That happiness. But also “the gesture” the years of study, the school, the repetition, the discipline, the artistic sensitivity.

All of it was there. As if it had been waiting patiently inside me.

Creativity Never Leaves You

There’s something powerful about realizing that the parts of you that you once explored deeply — even if life took you somewhere else — don’t disappear.

They stay intact.Dormant, maybe. Silent. But alive.

I studied art history and photography before building a 20-year career in marketing and corporate branding. At some point, I chose strategy over the camera. Boardrooms over darkrooms.Brand architecture over light composition. And yet, this week, while adjusting angles and playing with shadows, I realized something: Creativity lives in you. It doesn’t expire. It doesn’t resent you for choosing differently. It simply waits for you to call it back.

The Body Remembers

The most surprising part?My body remembered. The way I moved around the product. The way I searched for the light. The way I instinctively framed. It wasn’t forced. It wasn’t rusty. It was natural.Like meeting an old friend and realizing you still speak the same language. There is something deeply reassuring about that.

You Are More Than Your Current Title

.We tend to define ourselves by what we are doing now. Marketing consultant. Brand advisor. Entrepreneur.

But we are also:The girl who loved art. The student who spent hours perfecting composition. The creative who learned to see beauty in details. And sometimes, reconnecting with those earlier versions of ourselves doesn’t mean going backward. It means integrating them.

Today, when I speak about Human Branding, I realize how much of my photography background shapes the way I see brands.Light.Angle.Texture.Emotion.Story.Branding is visual. Branding is emotional. Branding is about perspective. Maybe I never left photography.Maybe I just translated it.

Give Yourself Permission

If there’s something you once loved…something you invested years mastering…something you quietly miss —Maybe it’s not gone. Maybe it’s just waiting for you to give it space again. We are not linear beings. We are layered. And the most beautiful part? All those layers can coexist. This week reminded me that the creative part of me is not a past chapter. It’s part of my foundation. And I’m so grateful I allowed it back into the room.—

With light, Karla ✨
